New Symbols 2 - Group exhibition
Efthymios' participation in the NEW SYMBOLS 2 exhibition is provided below. The exhibition presents original artworks of various styles and visual processing methods, such as figurative or non-figurative, expressionistic, symbolic and abstract. The final result of all participations reflects the interaction of the artists/creators with the main subject of the exhibition.

“My Social Media Friends”, Mixed technique with acrylics-charcoal-watercolors-inks on CANSON paper, 50x70 cm., August 2022.
Model: Kleo Elspeth Fisher
Artist's statement:
The artwork deals with the superficial happiness represented by the gilded digital world. The tested values of the past that lead slowly but steadily and with integrity to personal fulfillment and self-realization have now been replaced by the miserable and meaningless pursuit of "likes" and "thumbs up". The number of followers determines our personal mood, our social acceptance and many times even our professional development on a daily basis. A large percentage of people, regardless of their age and social, intellectual and economic background, like to painstakingly sculpt a glamorous and unnaturally flashy image that barely corresponds to reality and leave every aspect of their personal life exposed to the eyes of strangers, causing with greater frequency the anger, envy and unquenchable hatred rather than the true happiness. A lot of people have been trapped in an endless thirst for negative criticism outbursts, pretending at the same time to be a "friend" while relying on a deceitful image.
